Wildflower Walks for 2011

The Rare Wildflower Consortium will be hosting three wildflower walks during the spring season of 2011. 

  1. Walk 1 - Amiens on Sunday 28th August, 2011.
  2. Walk 2 - Dr Robert's Waterhole, Girraween NP on Sunday 11th September 2011.
  3. Walk 3 - Junction Track, Girraween NP on Sunday 30th October, 2011.

Wildflower Walk 1

Date: Sunday 28th August, 2011

Location: Passchendaele State Forest, Spouthern Amiens Section

Meet: Amiens State School, Amiens Rd, Amiens at 9.30am

Then we will convoy for about 2km to the starting point of the walk.

Notes: This walk involves some climbing over rock pavements and walking along unformed tracks.  Suitable for persons of reasonable fitness. Not suitable for young children or for persons with walking aids. There are no facilities available. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Wildflower Walk 2

Date: Sunday 11th September, 2011

Location: Dr Robert's Waterhole, Girraween National Park

Meet: Girraween Day Use Area, Girraween National Park, Pyramids Rd, Wyberba at 9.30am 

Notes: This walk uses one of the well known formed tracks in the park and is suitable for most ages and abilities. Facilities are available at the day use area but from there we travel a short distance to the beginning of the Dr Robert's Waterhole track. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Wildflower Walk 3

Date: Sunday 30th October, 2011

Location: Junction Track, Girraween National Park

Meet: Girraween Day Use Area, Girraween National Park, Pyramids Rd, Wyberba at 9.30am

Notes: This walk involves some climbing and walking over rock pavements. Suitable for persons of reasonable fitness. Not suitable for young children or persons with walking aids.  There are picnic tables and basic toilet facilities available. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Weather Alert for Wildflower Walks!

If it raining heavily on the day at the time of the walk, it is likely the walk will be cancelled.

If it has rained, but has stopped or broken up, the walk can still go ahead as most tracks we use are all weather tracks.


What to bring:

If you intend to join us on any of these walks, please bring with you:

  • hat
  • sturdy footwear
  • water
  • sunscreen
  • camera
  • binoculars
  • morning tea/lunch
