Wildflower Walks for 2010

The Rare Wildflower Consortium will be hosting three wildflower walks during the spring season of 2010. 

 

Wildflower Walk 1

Date: Sunday 29th August, 2010

Location: Passchendaele State Forest, Amiens Section

Meet: Amiens State School, Amiens Rd, Amiens at 9.30am (and then we usually convoy to the area)

Notes: This walk involves some climbing over rock pavements and walking along unformed tracks.  Suitable for persons of reasonable fitness, not suitable for young children. There are no facilities available. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Wildflower Walk 2

Date: Sunday 19th September, 2010

Location: Junction Track, Girraween National Park

Meet: Day use area, Girraween National Park, Pyramids Rd, Wyberba at 9.30am 

Notes: This walk uses one of the well known formed tracks in the park and is suitable for most ages and abilities. Facilities are avaialble at the day use area. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Weather Alert for Wildflower Walk 2 - Girraween National Park!

Further rain is predicted for the weekend 18th - 19th September.

If it raining heavily on the day at the time of the walk, it is likely the walk will be cancelled.

If it has rained, but has stopped or broken up, the walk can still go ahead as the track is an all weather track.

Wildflower Walk 3

Date: Sunday 24th October, 2010

Location: Mt Norman

Meet: Mt Norman Picnic Area, Mt Norman Rd, via Wallangarra at 9.30am

Notes: This walk involves some climbing and walking over rock pavements. Suitable for persons of reasonable fitness, not suitable for young children.  There are no facilities avaialble. We aim to be completed by noon. 

 

Weather Alert for Wildflower Walk 3 - Mt Norman!

Weather update (8.00pm 23/10/10)

We have been advised that the road to Mt Norman is passable for both 4WD and 2WD vehicles. There is no rain forecast for the morning therefore the walk is on.  Bear in mind, the last 5km will be on a dirt road.

If you intend to join us on any of these walks, please bring with you:

  • hat
  • sturdy footwear
  • water
  • sunscreen
  • camera
  • binoculars
  • morning tea/lunch
