What we need!
Items we can use
From time to time, people have items that they don't require anymore, or just want to make something, or contribute something that they know we can use. Here is a list of items, both large and small, that our group could use.
Freezer
We can save money if we purchase our food for our animals in bulk. Therefore we need a freezer to store bulk quantities not being used at certain points in time.
Digital frame
At our stalls, people are always interested in seeing pictures of the animals we've cared for. There are several ways we can convey these pictures. 1) as a power point presentation, 2) as a DVD displayed on a 34cm monitor, or 3) as a 12" digital frame. We think a digital frame would be more useful in that it would be easy to carry around and could be displayed easily on the stall.
Pouches
The common pouch size many of our macropod carers use is the size of a standard pillowcase. We go through heaps of pillow cases each year. If you're able to donate old pillow cases that you're not using anymore, they will come in very handy.
If you're inclined to make some pouches, use a standard pillow case as a starting point. Then just use combinations of either a double pillow case, a half pillow case or even a quarter pillow case. These sizes will fit a range of animals that come into care.
Old medicine bottles
We purchase our medicines for our animals in bulk and then share smaller quantities around the carers. It is useful to use old medicine bottles to help in the distribution process. They need to be thoroughly washed and have the labels removed.
Old jars
Old jars are very useful for when we decant and sell our bush honey, make our lemon butter or range of jams and other spreads for sale at our stalls. If you are collecting jars for us, the best sizes are between 200 and 500mls, and they need to have metal lids, be thoroughly washed and have the labels removed.
Timber
If you have any pieces of timber lying around, and wish to donate it to our group, please call Rick Leonard on 4681 3248. Rick can turn even the most unappealing pieces of timber into beautiful objects that we then sell on our fund raising stalls.
Thank you for your support if you are able to help.
