Rescuing Amphibians
Rescuing Frogs
- Only attempt a rescue of a frog if it is suffering from obvious signs of injury or disease.
- Always wet your hands with water before attempting to handle a frog.
- With your wet hands, gently place the frog into a waterproof container.
- Pour a few drops of water on to its skin so that it does not dry out.
- Cover the container and take to a wildlife carer or vet.
- Always rehabilitate frogs back to the area where they were found, ideally on a warm, wet evening.
Rescuing Turtles
- Sometimes turtles that have been injured by vehicles can be successfully rescued and rehabilitated.
- Download this paper on Effective Modern Shell Repair Techniques for Turtles for advice on techniques that can be used to repair turtle shells.
