Our Mission Statement

The Service aims to assist and support people with disabilities to establish careers in open employment that are of mutual benefit to the employee, the employer and the community. We will endeavour to ensure the continuation of the service for as long as community need and support for the service exists.

 

How can jobseekers use this service?

If you have a disability and are looking for a job, we may be able to help you. You can call us, drop in to see us, fax us, email us, or make an enquiry at Centrelink. You may have to ask Centrelink for a referral to us, and we can also help you with this.

Your employment support specialist can help you to plan and organise training and work experience training.

Jobseekers and Employment Support Specialists work together. You tell us what you are good at doing and what you would like to do.

Together we work out a plan for  what you will do to find and keep a job, and how your Employment Support Specialist can help you.

This Service is Free!


Our staff will assist you to find a job by:

  • providing advice and information about employment,

  • practicing job interviewing skills,

  • help with writing resumes,

  • employment counselling,

  • help with career development,

  • help with job applications,

  • assistance with employment information, and

  • support with work experience training.

    For example, training and work experience can help you to:          

  • find out what you are good at,

  • find out what sort of work you would like, and

  • find a job that suits your abilities and skills.

 

Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service promotes and upholds a policy of a discrimination-free workplace where the individual's rights are respected and promoted regardless of

  • gender,

  • cultural identity,

  • marital status, sexual preferences, pregnancy, disability, religious or political beliefs or activity so long as the activity is lawful.

 

Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service offers at no cost:

Support for consumers of the service during employment by offering the employee and the employer on-the-job support and training -  and Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service will liaise with employers to provide training and advice.

At the request of the employee or employer, Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service may arrange a Productivity Assessment of the worker through the Supported Wage System.

Where appropriate a Wage Subsidy may be available through Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service for the first thirteen weeks of a new position, providing the position is expected to continue for at least six months.

Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service, if requested by either worker or employer, may provide Workplace Assessments, Job Analysis and Co-worker Training.

Workplace Modification may be arranged through Stanthorpe Specialist Employment Service if required.
