Borderline Regional Arts Association Inc (”Borderline”) had its beginning in 1994 as a cooperative with about twenty members from both sides of the Queensland/New South Wales border. Incorporated four years later, Borderline now boasts close to 80 members and is growing all the time.

A community-based, not-for-profit organisation, Borderline encourages its members’ individual artistic development and skill-building with a culture of connection and collaboration through exhibitions, workshops, information and idea exchange, painting and drawing expeditions and social gatherings.

Borderline members’ skills span all levels of expertise - from novices to intermediate to experienced and professional artists. Mostly from Stanthorpe and Tenterfield (and further afield of both sides of the border), Borderline members practice their art in a broad range of media - painting (oils, acrylics, watercolour), sculpture (clay, wood, metal, bronze, found object), drawing (charcoal, ink, graphite), mixed media, textiles/fibre, jewellery, photography, etching, printmaking, papermaking, glass, ceramics, woodcarving, collage, folk art, framing, writing, poetry and music - an interesting group of interested people.

Since Borderline began, Stanthorpe Regional Art Gallery (SRAG) has hosted our annual group exhibition and Borderline continues to enjoy a mutually beneficial relationship with the Gallery through group and solo exhibitions, work sold, work acquired and members as gallery committee members and volunteers.

Borderline also collaborates with other regional and private galleries, and Borderline members, with energy, ideas, common interests and commitment, have collaborated to create interesting and popular ways to display and sell their art through group exhibitions at wineries, and in sheds, cafés and other venues.

Borderline promotes art and artists throughout northern NSW and southern QLD.
